Chemical Composition
The carbon content of SS400 steel plate is between 0.16% and 0.22%, which is a low-carbon steel plate. In addition to carbon, it also contains appropriate amounts of phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and other elements. Among them, the content of P and S is strictly controlled, because P will increase the cold brittleness of steel, and S will cause hot brittleness of steel. The content of P and S in SS400 steel must be less than 0.050%.
