Steel bar connection
The connection of steel bars in China mainly adopts two methods: welding and mechanical connection, except for binding and overlapping.
1. Welding
Recently, the main connection method for steel bars in construction in China is still welding. The main welding processes include electric slag pressure welding, flash butt welding, and arc welding. HRB400 grade has good welding performance and is suitable for various welding methods due to its carbon equivalent ≤ 0.54%. The process is simple and convenient. The welding quality of steel bars shall comply with the "Code for Welding and Acceptance of Steel Bars" JGJ18 (under revision).
2. Mechanical connection technology
In recent years, a new technology has been promoted, known as the "third generation steel bar joint" after binding and welding, such as simple sleeve, tapered thread, pier coarse straight thread and other connections. The mechanical connection of steel bars shall comply with the General Technical Specification for Mechanical Connections of Steel Bars JG] 107 (under revision). Its advantages are high joint strength and stable quality; Safe, no open flames, and unaffected by weather conditions; Strong adaptability, suitable for connecting steel bars in various directions such as vertical, horizontal, inclined, high-altitude, underwater, etc. It is also particularly suitable for connecting non weldable steel bars and imported steel bars. Most foreign countries adopt this connection method.
